Throughout the month of November, Annie Leist will be showing several paintings at Project 9494 @ Screwball Studios, a project space in Brooklyn, NY whose monthly exhibitions showcase the work of artists in one of the largest studio buildings in the Gowanus area.  The small show, entitled Five Years, places paintings from 2003 and 2008 side-by-side. This grouping attempts to make sense through hindsight of anomalous ideas that appeared in some of Leist’s 2003 work, initially discarded or misunderstood even by the artist herself, which now play an important role in her current paintings.  To make an appointment to see this exhibition, on view through November 30th, please contact the artist.
